흔히 순리라고 생각되는 것들을 당연하게 받아들이지 말라.

 

대기오염으로 인류가 식량난에 시달리는 상황이지만

그럼에도 불구하고 싸워야 한다는, 영화 전반에 걸쳐 반복적으로 전하는 메시지.

 

다음 세대의 인류를 위한 새로운 지구를 찾는 과정에서 시행착오와 일련의 사고들로

주인공을 비롯한 우주비행사 팀원들은 죽음을 각오한 채 웜홀의 중력을 이용, 마지막 목표 행성으로의 이동을 감행한다.

이 과정에서 아버지의 사랑은 시간을 거슬러 딸에게 닿는다.

 

자연으로부터 도출된 일련의 규칙들, 우리가 발견한 과학의 법칙들까지만 인정하기에 그친다면,

책장 뒤 아버지의 뜻은 결코 딸에게 닿지 못했을 것이다.
